Always On.
Always Expected.
The pressure to always be available is quietly reshaping the way we communicate.
There was a time when unanswered messages simply meant someone was busy. Today, silence is often misunderstood. A delayed response can easily be mistaken for disinterest, leading to hurt feelings or the impression that someone is being ignored.
The problem isn't communication. It's the expectation that everyone should always be available.

North Star

Protecting Peace,
Preserving the Connection.
The goal was never to help people avoid conversations. It was to protect their peace while preserving the connection.
Every design decision was guided by a single question:
How can we help people communicate their availability before expectations turn into misunderstandings?
VibeOutage protects a person's peace by giving others the context they need before reaching out.
North Star
Design Principle
Orby isn't just a notification assistant. As the Gatekeeper of your peace, Orby translates your social energy into a clear visual signal, giving others the context they need before getting in touch.
From Status to Signal.
The Shift

VibeOutage isn’t just an on-off switch. It helps people communicate the space in between, whether you’re fully available or completely off-grid. It transforms a standard status into a social signal that sets expectations before anyone has to ask.
Design DNA

Availability has a
visual language.
VibeOutage turns social availability into something people can understand at a glance. Color, type, motion, and Orby work together as one system, communicating the vibe before a word needs to be said.
Orbital Core

Personality, engineered.
Orby isn’t a static mascot. Expressions, voice, visemes, timing, and motion work together as one system, giving each Orbit state its own personality while keeping every reaction unmistakably Orby.
In Action

Set the Vibe.
Orby Handles the Rest.
Choose your Orbit, throw in a personalized voice message, and let Orby set the vibe before anyone has to ask. VibeOutage turns a simple status into a shared social signal.
Magic & Motion

Built to feel effortless.
Not built effortlessly.
Behind Orby’s calm little face is a lot of moving parts. React, TypeScript, state logic, animation timing, audio sync, and more than a few stubborn bugs had to work together before the experience felt simple.
The concept
became a product.
VibeOutage moved beyond screens and prototypes into a working interactive experience. Five social states, a responsive Orbit system, a talking mascot, and a contact experience all work together around one simple idea: communicate the vibe before the conversation starts.

The orbit keeps evolving.
VibeOutage started with a simple question: what if people could signal their social availability before the interruption happened? Building it turned that idea into something bigger, from Orby’s personality and voice to an interaction system designed around protecting a person’s peace without making connection feel cold.
